The Research and Innovation Directorate (RID) is pleased to bring to the attention of the University community the SVRI Data to Evidence Grant 2027: Knowledge for Action to End Violence Against Women and Child Sexual Violence, offered by the Sexual Violence Research Initiative (SVRI). This grant seeks to support researchers based in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs) to conduct secondary analysis of existing data to generate new evidence on violence against women (VAW), child sexual violence (CSV), or the intersections between them. The aim is to address important evidence gaps and generate findings that can inform policy, practice and the broader evidence base.

Scope of the Call

Proposals should:

• Address a focused research question through secondary analysis of an existing, ethically sourced dataset;
• Demonstrate that the applicant has the necessary approval and permission to access and use the proposed dataset;
• Clearly identify the evidence gap the analysis will address;
• Demonstrate familiarity with secondary data analysis methods; and
• Explain how the findings will contribute to policy, practice or evidence on violence against women and/or child sexual violence in an LMIC context.

Proposals led by or meaningfully involving early-career researchers from LMICs are particularly welcomed. Applicants are also encouraged to include clear knowledge outputs and dissemination plans.

Eligibility

The lead applicant must be based at an LMIC-based university, research institution or non-governmental organisation. Please note that the lead applicant must not currently hold another active SVRI research grant or have previously received an SVRI grant. Institutions that previously held an SVRI grant that is no longer active may apply, although preference will be given to organisations that have not previously received an SVRI grant.

Funding and Duration

• Grant value: USD 30,000–50,000 per grant
• Total funding envelope: USD 400,000
• Expected number of awards: 8–13 grants
• Duration: Up to 12 months
