The Research and Innovation Directorate (RID) is pleased to inform the University community that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs/DANIDA is inviting interdisciplinary proposals to examine the interplay between climate impacts, environmental shifts, and multifaceted social vulnerabilities.
The core aims include analyzing how climate and environmental actions address developmental issues. Designing resilient data, early warning systems, evaluating policies/institutions shaping adaptation, mitigation and resilience for local communities. Proposals must focus on inclusivity, governance impacts, and outreach to vulnerable populations, driving exploration of conflicts, opportunities, and societally innovative approaches. Proposals should yield insights into equitable climate strategies, policy recommendations for inclusive transitions, and frameworks enhancing resilience via technology, participation, and integrated health-environment links, ultimately tackling uneven development burdens. Proposals must clearly show both the scientific excellence and societal relevance of the research.
Award Budget and Duration
- Up to DKK 10 million per project for 5 years.
Eligibility
- Application should come from a university or research-based institution in an eligible partner country with the capacity to (co-) supervise PhD students, and with documented involvement in a Danida-funded research project completed between 1 Jan 2022 – 31 Dec 2026.
- Application must be submitted by the researcher who will serve as PI on behalf of the responsible institution.
- PhD students' involvement is essential for this project.
- Partnerships must follow equity principles, with active contributions from all partners in Phase 1 and Phase 2 applications. Gender composition of the team must be carefully considered.
- The application must include at least one nationally registered research institution/university in Denmark and one in the partner country/ where research will be implemented.
- Additional partners (international, public authorities, private sector, non-academic institutions) may be included as secondary partners.
- PI(s) and team must document relevant scientific merits, qualifications, and research background in the topic or geography.
