Fox International Fellowship Programme

The Research and Innovation Directorate (RID) is pleased to inform the University community that applications are now open for the Fox International Fellowship Programme at Yale University, USA, for the 2026/2027 academic year. The Fellowship is a direct, two-way student exchange programme between the University of Ghana and Yale University. It aims to identify and nurture graduate students who are committed to using scholarly knowledge to address some of the world’s most pressing challenges.

Field of focus

Applications are invited from full-time University of Ghana PhD candidates (second and third years) ) who have completed their first year in any of the following disciplines: International Relations and Global Affairs, Environmental Policy, Public Health, Business and Finance, Sociology, Economics, Political Science, Political Theory, Law, and Contemporary History, with preference for topics of contemporary, applied, theoretical and/or institutional relevance to enhancing the world’s peace and prosperity. The candidate’s overall programme of study or degree may span different disciplines and departments, provided that their proposed project focuses on one or more of these fields.

Personal characteristics.  

Strength of Academic Achievement: The candidate must demonstrate excellence in relevant coursework and provide strong evidence of research ability in the field they intend to pursue for their Fox Fellowship project.

Language skills.  

The candidate’s language skills must be sufficient both to succeed in their research project and to engage in the intellectual and social community of the host university. Candidates for the Yale International Fox Fellowships at Yale University must have an excellent command of the English language in conversation, reading and writing.

Research Proposal.  

Candidates will be given preference for demonstrating excellence in their field of study.

Completed application must include the following

2. Yale MacMillan Centre Application form from partner institutions.

3. Applicants must submit two letters of recommendation from University of Ghana faculty members. At least one letters should be from the applicant’s principal supervisor, who can comment on their academic performance, research capabilities, and commitment to leadership and service in line with the goals of the Fox International Fellowship

4. Most recent Curriculum Vitae.

5. Transcript of Academic Record on your PhD programme.
