ARUA 2025 Conference Call for Papers

The African Research Universities Alliance (ARUA) is pleased to announce a call for abstracts for its 5th Biennial International Conference on the theme “Research, Innovation & Artificial Intelligence for Africa’s Transformation”. The conference will be hosted at the Makerere University from 29 - 31 October 2025. The ARUA 2025 Biennial International Conference will seek to bring together experts from different fields, including universities, research institutions, government, industry, civil society, international organizations, etc., to discuss how Africa’s Transformation can best be facilitated by Research, Innovation and Artificial Intelligence.

The Conference is open to papers that will address issues related to the following themes:

• Promoting Collaborative Research and Innovation Networks in AI in Africa
• Building AI Capacity and Talents in African Higher Education Institutions
• Advancing Responsible AI Ecosystems in African HEIs
• Strengthening Industry and University Collaborations in AI in Africa
• Investments in Artificial Intelligence for African Universities
• Improving Infrastructure for Science and Technology in AI
• Promoting Doctoral Education in AI on the African Continent
• Redefining Pan-African and Global Collaborations in AI
• The Role of Governance at University and State Levels in Fostering AI in Africa
• Application of AI in Research and Innovation in African Universities

Key Dates

• 28 February 2025 - Deadline for abstract and special session submissions.
• 31 March 2025 - Feedback on submissions.
• 30 September 2025 - Deadline for the submission of full papers.
• 29 - 31 October 2025 - Conference takes place.
