RID Staff Member Participates in Erasmus+ Mobility Programme at Uppsala University

Ms. Sylvia Antwiwaah Sarbah, a Research Development Officer at the Research and Innovation Directorate (RID), University of Ghana, recently participated in an Erasmus+ International Credit Mobility (ICM) exchange programme at Uppsala University, Sweden. The week-long professional exchange, funded by the European Union, took place from 19 to 23 May 2026 and aimed to promote knowledge sharing and strengthen collaboration in research management between the two institutions.

During the visit, Ms. Sarbah was hosted by the Forum for Africa Studies at Uppsala University, where she undertook a job-shadowing programme with Dr. Kajsa Hallberg Adu, Research Coordinator at the Forum and an alumna of the University of Ghana. The exchange provided a valuable opportunity to learn about research coordination practices, project administration and institutional support systems that facilitate research excellence at Uppsala University.

As part of the programme, Ms. Sarbah participated in meetings with research and project coordinators from across Uppsala University, including the Coordinator's Club, a platform that brings together research management professionals to share experiences and best practices. She also attended a presentation on science communication, which explored innovative approaches to communicating research findings to diverse audiences and enhancing public engagement with science.

A key highlight of the visit was Ms. Sarbah's participation in the 2026 Uppsala Africa Days programme, organised by the Forum for Africa Studies. The event provided an important platform for discussions on African research priorities, international collaboration and knowledge exchange between African and European institutions.

Reflecting on the visit, Ms. Sarbah noted that the mobility programme offered valuable insights into research administration and institutional support structures while creating opportunities for future collaboration between the University of Ghana and Uppsala University. The exchange also reinforced the importance of international partnerships in strengthening research management capacity and supporting impactful research.

The Research and Innovation Directorate congratulates Ms. Sarbah on her successful participation in the Erasmus+ mobility programme and looks forward to leveraging the knowledge and experiences gained to further enhance research support services and international collaboration at the University of Ghana.
