The University of Ghana has welcomed Professor Samuel Nii Ardey Codjoe as the new Pro Vice-Chancellor (Research, Innovation and Development). Professor Codjoe officially assumed office on 1 August 2026, succeeding Professor Felix Ankomah Asante, who served in the role from 2020 to 2026.

Professor Codjoe's appointment reflects the University's continued commitment to strengthening its research, innovation and development agenda in support of its vision of becoming a world-class research-intensive institution. As Pro Vice-Chancellor, he will provide strategic leadership for the University's research enterprise, innovation ecosystem and graduate research agenda, while fostering interdisciplinary collaboration, international partnerships and knowledge translation for national and global impact.

In his new role, Professor Codjoe will work closely with the Research and Innovation Directorate (RID), to enhance research excellence, promote innovation and entrepreneurship, support postgraduate research, and strengthen the University's engagement with industry, government and development partners.

The Research and Innovation Directorate looks forward to working with Professor Codjoe to advance the University's strategic priorities, expand research opportunities, and increase the visibility and impact of the University's research locally and internationally.
