The University of Ghana is a collaborating partner in the German-African Project 2026–2028 on Careers and Startup Education in the University System, an Erasmus+ funded initiative led by the University of Münster, Germany. The project brings together Career Services and Startup/Entrepreneurship Centres from six universities in Africa and Europe to strengthen careers education, entrepreneurship development, intercultural learning, and international collaboration among students and university staff. The participating institutions are

- Kepler College (Rwanda)
- American University in Cairo (Egypt).
The University of Ghana’s participation is coordinated through the Careers and Counselling Services Directorate and the Innovation Unit of the Research and Innovation Directorate (RID). This collaboration is further supported by the Memorandum of Understanding between the University of Ghana and the University of Münster, which provides a framework for cooperation in areas including student career development, experiential learning, innovation, entrepreneurship, staff and student exchanges, knowledge sharing, and intercultural engagement.
The project seeks to enable students at participating universities to gain mutual insights into academic labour markets, startup development, culture, social contexts, and everyday life in Africa and Europe. Through the project, students will build intercultural competencies, prepare for globalised working environments, and explore international career and entrepreneurship opportunities.
The specific objectives of the project are to:
- Promote mutual learning and exchange of expertise among partner universities.
- Strengthen careers education and startup support within the university system.
- Provide students with intercultural and practical learning opportunities.
- Support students and university start-ups to better understand international labour markets and market opportunities.
- Foster collaboration between Career Services, Entrepreneurship Centres, and Innovation Units across participating institutions.
Activities under the project include:
- Staff mobility and institutional exchange visits.
- Online seminars and case study workshops involving students from partner universities.
- Joint knowledge-sharing sessions on careers education, labour markets, startup development, and entrepreneurship.
- Face-to-face seminars delivered by African university staff at the University of Münster and by University of Münster representatives at African partner universities.
- Advisory sessions on career guidance, internships, labour markets, startup topics, job applications, and related areas.
- Support for research into country-specific market opportunities for university startups.
As a partner institution, the University of Ghana will contribute to the project through its expertise in student career development, entrepreneurship support, innovation ecosystem development, and startup capacity building. UG will also participate in joint programme planning, staff mobility activities, student-focused engagements, and knowledge-sharing sessions.
