Brief Profile of Firibu Kwesi Saalia (PhD)

Professor Firibu Kwesi Saalia obtained BSc in Biochemistry and Food Science, MPhil in Food Science from the University of Ghana and PhD in Food Science and Technology from the University of Georgia (UGA). He worked in the same department at UGA as Post-Doctoral Research Associate for three years and later joined the teaching faculty in the Department of Nutrition and Food Science of the University of Ghana in August 2005. He rose to the rank of Professor and is currently the OR Tambo Africa Research Chair for Food Science and Technology. Prof Saalia’s research interests include food processing (thermal and non-thermal), Food quality and safety, dehydration of foods and valorization of food processing waste streams and development of biodegradable packaging for food. He has supervised many graduate (PhD and MPhil) students’ theses, attended many international conferences and, has an extensive list of published research papers. For details of publications, refer to the following links
