RESEARCH DEVELOPMENT OFFICERS FROM GHANA AND SOUTH AFRICA VISIT GEORGE WASHINGTON UNIVERSITY FOR KNOWLEDGE-SHARING PROGRAM

April 3, 2025

Two Research Development Officers from the Research and Innovation Directorate, Mrs. Dorcas Opai-Tetteh and Ms. Deborah Akyeampon, participated in a month-long fellowship program at George Washington University (GW) in March 2025. The program, facilitated by the International Research and Exchanges Board (IREX) and supported by the Carnegie Corporation of New York, aimed to enhance research administration skills across African institutions. Alongside Naseema Sonday from Stellenbosch University, they learned about best practices in research funding, compliance, and grant management from GW’s Office of Sponsored Projects. The program also offered insights into global research trends and fostered connections with GW researchers, strengthening international partnerships. This experience is expected to help improve research administration at the University of Ghana, particularly in enhancing efficiency and supporting global collaborations.
