The Human and Animal Research Ethics Services (HARES) continued its series of stakeholder engagement sessions with a visit to the College of Basic and Applied Sciences (CBAS) on Wednesday, August 27, 2025. This initiative aims to strengthen ethical oversight and foster closer collaboration between HARES and the University's academic units.
The meeting was attended by Professor Sandow Mark Yidana, Provost of CBAS; Dr. Helena Baidoo, Team Lead of HARES; Ms. Angela Abroso, Administrator of the Ethics Committee for Basic and Applied Sciences; Mrs. Hannah Abban, Administrator of the NMIMR Institutional Review Board; Mrs. Angelina S. Appiah-Kubi, Administrator of the Ethics Committee for the Humanities; and Mrs. Ruth N. E. Mensah, Senior Research Assistant at the Ethics Committee for Basic and Applied Sciences.
The discussions focused on enhancing support for ethical research practices within the College. Both parties expressed a shared commitment to promoting ethical standards in research activities across CBAS. The Provost reiterated the importance of integrating ethical considerations into the research process and pledged support for initiatives aimed at strengthening ethical oversight.
This engagement marks a significant step in HARES' ongoing efforts to collaborate with various colleges at the University of Ghana, ensuring that ethical research practices are upheld across disciplines.
