The Human and Animal Research Ethics Services (HARES) has completed its final sensitization visit at the College of Education on 9th September 2025, concluding a comprehensive engagement campaign across the University of Ghana. Over the past month, HARES has met with leadership and stakeholders in the various Colleges to promote ethical research practices, address challenges, and foster institutional support for research ethics.
The meeting at the College of Education brought together key personnel including Provost Professor Sam Nii Ardey Codjoe, Registrar Mr. Joseph Kwodjo Nkansah, Dr. Clement Adamba of the Legon Centre for Education Research and Policy, HARES Team Lead Dr. Helena Baidoo, and administrators from various Ethics Committees and research boards, such as Mrs. Angelina Appiah Kubi, Ms. Angela Abroso, Ms. Hannah Abban, Mr. Joseph Baah, Mrs. Maame Efua Annan‑Kwofie, Ms. Rose Margaret Kenyoke, and National Service Personnel Mabel Asamoah.
Discussions focused on improving ethical review processes, supporting early-career researchers, and establishing a dedicated Ethics Committee within the College of Education. Professor Codjoe expressed strong support for these initiatives, noting the growing research demands and the importance of timely ethical oversight. HARES committed to submitting a formal proposal to Management and rolling out workshops and training sessions to facilitate a smooth implementation.
This final visit marks the successful conclusion of HARES’ ethics sensitization and stakeholder engagement series, reinforcing the University’s commitment to fostering a culture of ethical research across all its colleges.
