Being Initiative that focuses on youth mental health promotion and prevention

March 9, 2026

The Research and Innovation Directorate invites the University community to submit proposals for Grand Challenges Canada through the Being Initiative that focuses on youth mental health promotion and prevention. The initiative seeks broader social and structural conditions that shape young people’s mental health and wellbeing, including relationships, safety, stigma, opportunity, and social connection.

Bullying and cyberbullying in Ghanaian schools are escalating, causing anxiety, depression, low self‑esteem, absenteeism, and dropout. Students often lack awareness of their rights and support pathways, while teachers lack training to prevent or respond. These behaviours undermine safety, belonging, and engagement in learning environments. We seek bold, innovative solutions to promote youth mental health and wellbeing, focusing on anti‑bullying and cyberbullying for students and school staff.

 Award Budget Specific to Ghana
